North Node in the First         The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Self-Identity

   House

The North Node in the First House indicates that you may need to focus on finding your identity. It may also indicate that you need to develop more self-confidence and assertiveness. It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to the needs of your self, in various dimensions, including developing a strong self-awareness. You are called upon to do this in the present life.

You can be either drawn inexorably to the quest for self-identity or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to possess a stunted or immature sense of self.  You may be reluctant to assert yourself, at least initially in life,  or you may have an "inability" to clearly form a self-identity, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.

Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of knowing yourself and "owning" your identity.  This quest for self-identity may become a defining objective in your life.  Whether you become self-absorbed or "full of yourself" as a result of this will depend upon your concept and your awareness of the meaning of "self."

Another manifestation of the North Node in the First House is that the awakening of the self and/or your search for self-identity may either be prompted by some destined event or result in you achieving your life's destiny.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives to both form a solid self-identity and participate as a partner in a close relationship, which demands the submission of the self to a certain degree.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve this apparent paradox.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the First House if you respond to your destiny, which leads you to pursue a path of self-actualization.  Key events and circumstances in your life may guide you along this path, pushing you to ever more transcendent conceptions of the self.  Through these explorations, you rise above the concept of the personal self, discovering your Real, transcendent Self.  It is through identifying with the Self as your real self that you become transformed and you achieve your life's destiny, which is to know and actualize your self at its highest level.

Insecurity

It is easy for you to imagine yourself as destined for greatness, but such fantasizing is simply a defense against facing the real task at hand, which is for you to develop a valid self-identity.  You may waste your time in self-aggrandizement or you may simply not address your destined life lesson.  Subconsciously, you fear to discover that your ego-self is insignificant and illusory.  You are filled with self-doubt, though this may be suppressed or ignored.  You may be too timid to assert yourself, never having answered the question of "Who am I?" or never having developed any clear self-identity.  It is not uncommon that you would take your identity from your partner or from your role in a relationship, because this is something that is comfortable for you.

       -- Gargatholil                                                                                     Back to Top

South Node in the Seventh    Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Toward Your

   House                                    Relationships and Toward Others

The South Node in the Seventh House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on interpersonal relationships with others.  You may have past life associations of strong involvement in relationships and this creates a level of comfort and competency for you with your current relationships.  However, it may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions toward how you deal with your relationships.

The talents and resources that you possess are likely to be associated with interpersonal dynamics and relationship building.  You may also discover your talents through relationships and dealing with others. You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about relationships, meeting people and interpersonal matters of all sorts, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may indicate that you may be dissatisfied with your relationships or that you may doubt your interpersonal skills.

Your comfort with relationships may cause you to dwell too extensively in this area, at the risk of failing to pursue the development of new talents and capabilities.  You may find it easy to allow your relationship(s) to define who you are or to allow yourself to become confined by a relationship.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives which entangle you, hold you back, or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with interpersonal relationships and/or the problem of self versus other and will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through self-transformation, you must purify your attitude and behavior towards others and towards relationship, in general.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Seventh House by responding to your innate attunement to others.  This, then, can create a growing selfless quality about you.  You learn that "love" is not self-indulgence and that relationships require much compromise and self-sacrifice.

You also recognize that your relationships in this world are far from perfect and are impermanent also.  You seek some relationship which is True.  Deep within you is the memory of a Divine Beloved, a Perfect Relationship, and you strive to reacquire this relationship with the Divine.  To be successful, you must turn within yourself, although your natural inclinations will keep you "involved" in your interpersonal relationships.  Gradually, however, you become attached to the Divine Beloved and detached from your other relationships.  You do not abandon these, however, because you now perceive your Beloved in everyone you meet.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, it may seem to you that you have never lived outside of a relationship and, subconsciously, you doubt that your "self" can be maintained unless it is in relation to some other. In this, you are not far from the truth but you cannot bear to give up your ego.  You, therefore, habitually cling to your relationship(s).  You even are attached to all of the problems and inadequacies of the relationship(s), and especially those that are of your own doing.  You cannot, or you do not choose to see, your failings and bad habits in the area of relationship and interpersonal dynamics.  Of course, you may be very skilled in the art of relationship, but you use these skills to protect yourself.  In the end, you cannot exist without involvement in some type of relationship.

       -- Gargatholil                                                                                                    Back to Top

North Node in the Second     The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on

House                                    Your Values and on Material Security

The placement of the North Node in the Second House indicates that you may need to focus more on your material security, but it may also indicate that you need to focus on values development or redefinition. It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you did not pay sufficient attention to developing a solid material/physical foundation. You are called upon to do this in the present life.

You may, at least initially in life, neglect the material, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  You can either be drawn inexorably to the quest for material security and/or a satisfying value system or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to remain immature in your attitudes toward wealth and possessions and have an underdeveloped or simplistic value system.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of providing for your material security.

You may also feel that it is in your destiny to acquire material wealth and the pursuit of material possessions may become a defining objective in your life. However, if you are high-functioning, you are likely to find lessons about values and your attitude toward possessions commingled with your struggle to develop a strong and balanced approach to dealing with material security issues. You are likely to need to develop (solidify) or reformulate your value system. If you intellectually favor a relativist value system, you will likely be confronted with a redefining crisis that calls for you to modify this relativist stance.

Another manifestation of the placement of the North Node in the Second House may be that you realize your destiny, or destined opportunities are opened for you, through your pursuit of material security and/or the exploration of your values.  You may also be confronted with contradictory drives to both secure your physical environment and detach yourself from material possessiveness.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve these apparent paradoxes.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Second House when you focus on your defining values.  This leads you to your life's destiny, which is to transcend your attachment to and dependence on material possessions.  This process may begin with some destined event that reveals to you the fragility of placing your trust in material possessions and your ability to acquire them.  You realize the degree to which you rely on these possessions and the extent to which they enslave you.  You then begin to question your pre-conditioned value system and to work out a set of values that is based on what is Real.

Along the way, you must make peace with the necessity of material life.  You accomplish this by detaching yourself from reliance on expectations.  You realize that whatever you are to possess in this life has already been allotted to you.  You, therefore, work dutifully to acquire what is necessary for your life in the world, but you are not attached to the results, allowing whatever is in the hand of destiny to fall your way.  Your treasure is not of this world, but you are building your Treasure within.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, as a defense mechanism you may presume that you are destined for material affluence and the enjoyment of abundant possessions.  This conscious stance defends your insecure ego against its subconscious fear that you are not worthy of material abundance.  Therefore, if material affluence is your destiny, you may still inwardly fear that the future will rob you of your affluence.  This fear is likely to keep you focused on acquiring more wealth and possessions.

If you are disappointed in your material destiny, you are likely to complain about your fate.  You do not want to accept that you will have to earn whatever wealth is in your destiny.  You may resign yourself to relative poverty rather than learn those life lessons that would lead you to greater affluence.  You are also likely to depend on others for your material well-being and be content with this level of dependency.

     -- Gargatholil                                                                                                         Back to Top

South Node in the Eighth       Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Toward Intimacy

      House                                  and Emotional Security

The placement of the South Node in the Eighth House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on areas of life associated with intimacy and emotional security. These include sexuality, the exercise of power, and other aspects of intimate relationships. You may also be inclined toward dealing with death and dying, the occult, transformation and regeneration, or getting in touch with your inner power.  You are likely to have past life associations that automatically create a level of comfort and competency with those things (listed above) that are associated with the Eighth House. Your predispositions in these areas may, however, be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of.        The talents and resources that you possess are likely to be associated with Eighth House matters. Also, you may discover your talents through intimate relationships with other people or through the "bequest" of others. You are likely to have a comfort-level or even a sense of complacency about Eighth House matters, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your condition.

Your comfort with power, sexuality, etc. may cause you to dwell too extensively in these areas, at the risk of failing to pursue the development of new talents and capabilities.  You may find it easy to manipulate others and you may become used to always having control and getting your way.  If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to face unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back, or draw you into a negative complex. These issues are likely to be associated with power, control, sexuality or occult forces, and will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet. The challenge for you to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and from those you need to give up.  Then, through self-transformation, you must purify your attitude and behavior towards power, sex, death and the unknown.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Eighth House when you discover the great wealth that lies within you.  You can claim this wealth by merging with that Power within.  This is your true inheritance.  That Power is That on which you can truly rely.  That Treasure has been being laid up for you for eons and you are now ready to possess it.  You have been prepared to be fit to receive this Gift, although there may remain some purification to be undergone before you can die to yourself and merge into that One.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, subconsciously, you will believe yourself unworthy to receive anything that is holy or become intimate in any way that reflects goodness.  You also fear the annihilation of your ego-self.  Therefore, you gravitate toward whatever affirms the ego's reality.  You are naturally drawn to the lower manifestations of power and intimacy.  For such a role, life may have equipped you well.  You are prone to indulgence in debauchery and lust for power.  It is perfectly natural for you to be inured to the most callous type of exploitative behavior.

     -- Gargatholil                                                                                                         Back to Top

North Node in the Third        The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Your

   House                                    Immediate Environment

The North Node in the Third House indicates that you may need to focus more on your immediate environment rather than on long-term or far-away concerns.  The focus that you need to achieve may include paying attention to the here and now, learning about and from your surroundings and learning how to live in the ordinary, everyday world. It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to the here and now and/or to functioning in the present, concrete, consensual reality.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.

You can be either drawn inexorably to the quest for connection to your immediate environment or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to have an immature attitude toward everyday life and toward what is immediately at hand.  You may, at least initially in life, have a tendency not to pay attention to the here and now, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  This may sometimes be associated with childhood learning problems.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of focusing on the ordinary, everyday world.            You may, also, feel that it is in your destiny to lead a quite ordinary existence or, perhaps, that it is in your destiny to learn all that you can about the world around you.  This sense of destiny may be so strong that it becomes a defining objective in your life.  You are likely to have a need to develop (solidify) a more present-centered approach to life and a clearer perception of what really exists for you.

Another manifestation of the North Node in the Third House may be that you realize your destiny, or you have destined opportunities opened to you, through Third House activities, whether it is paying more attention to the immediate here and now, learning or communicating.  It may also be the case that destiny presents itself to you at an early age or is connected with siblings or childhood friendships.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives to both focus on the present and dream about the future or to attend to everyday existence and pursue adventure and new horizons.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve these apparent paradoxes.

Transcendent Potential

You can actualize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Third House when you realize that your destiny is clearly to become aware in the most conscious sense of the Here and Now.  This entails a shedding of all attachment to the past and future, to whatever is illusory and, therefore, not really Here.  It means that you must divest yourself of your conditioning, which constantly pulls you away from the Here and Now. When you succeed in completely focusing your attention in the one moment in which you are presently existing, then the Eternal Here and Now is opened to you and you experience Its Limitlessness.  Only by a conscious effort to remain Present to the Divine will this be achieved.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, then, subconsciously, you will fear contact with Reality, perhaps knowing that your ego cannot stand in Its presence, that the ego only exists in relation to past and future, there and other.  You occupy yourself with the everyday but this is an everyday existence that is intruded upon by the regrets of the past and the fears of the future.  Thus, you are not even very effective in the world of everyday existence.  Your subconscious holds you back from contact with present reality, even to the extent of inhibiting your learning and/or communicating.  You may be seen to live in the future or to live for risk and adventure, the ever-impending big hit. This, however, is just a manifestation of your fear to face your present circumstance and reality.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                         Back to Top

South Node in the Ninth        Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towards

   House                                    Expansion and Understanding

The South Node in the Ninth House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on expansiveness in life and to seek an understanding of the way things are.  This focus may include such activities as travel, sports and adventure, as well as academic or philosophical pursuit. You generally have past life associations in these areas, which automatically create a level of comfort and competency for you in these areas.  These predispositions, however, may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of.

The talents and resources that you possess are likely to be associated with Ninth House matters.  You may be particularly apt at sports, academics or adventurous undertakings.  You may have a knack for seeing the big picture or for being able to assemble facts and readily gain a conceptual understanding of complex phenomena. Also, you may discover your talents through participating in Ninth House oriented activities.  You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about Ninth House matters.  However, a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with things associated with the Ninth House.

Your comfort with conceptuality, big picture events and processes and/or with taking risks associated with large undertakings or horizon-expanding activities may cause you to dwell too extensively in these areas at the risk of failing to pursue the development of new talents and capabilities.  You may find it easy to live a life of adventure and pursuit of potentiality, or to feel that as long as you understand something conceptually, you do not have to bother about the details.              If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives which entangle you, hold you back, or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with adventure and risk, excessiveness, lack of attention to the here and nowl or being bored with everyday existence and they will, also, involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through self-transformation, you must purify your attitude and behavior with regard to your ideas about your position in the wide world and recognize your own limited role within the grand scheme of things.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Ninth House when you pursue your proclivity for understanding at the conceptual level, your drive to understand the reality of things and the whole picture. This, then, combines with your dissatisfaction with everyday existence and leads you to perceive at least a glimpse of the Grand Architecture of Existence.  You must first put your ego-self in perspective and realize your own smallness in the face of the Eternal and the Divine.  Otherwise, your understanding is obstructed and distorted.        Your understanding of the way-things-really-are from a higher perspective is innate within you, as it is in everyone.  However, you are equipped through long association with searching for the Truth to rediscover your ancient understanding.  Once you grasp the complete and true picture of things, the magnitude and the Glory of it overwhelms you and you remain awe-stricken.  You also realize the impossibility of truly understanding the Reality and, so, you give up trying on the intellectual level, at least.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, it is because, subconsciously, you realize that if you truly reaches a level of understanding, you will have to confront certain truths which would be unpleasant for your ego to face.  You, therefore, avoid the pursuit of such understanding.  Perhaps you allow your Ninth House predispositions to exhibit themselves through devotion to travel and adventure or through indulgence in excess. Alternatively, you become timid and afraid of anything requiring comprehension, stretching beyond yourself or coming in contact with anything new, grand or adventurous.  Or, you may inwardly feel yourself to be unworthy to participate in "grand undertakings" and, though pushed in this direction by your proclivities, you fail miserably at employing your talents and reaching your potential.

North Node in the Fourth    The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Rootedness and

   House                                  Emotional Security

The North Node in the Fourth House indicates that you may need to develop a higher level of emotional security and to acquire more experience of rootedness in your life.  You may find it difficult to face Issues of emotional security and protection/nurturing but unlikely to be avoided.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to your family, to domestic responsibilities and/or to a search for rootedness.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.

You may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) development of emotionally mature attitudes.  You can either be drawn inexorably to the quest for emotional foundation or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to remain emotionally immature.  You may have a tendency not to become involved in family or domestic life, at least initially in life, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of integrating into family life, finding your roots and/or accepting your family/domestic responsibilities.  You may also have a need to examine your roots and to establish a firm foundation for yourself.

The unfolding of your destiny or life work may occur in situations involving the home or domesticity, though this is just one manifestation of the principle of rootedness and security.  Your destiny may also unfold through a working out of relationships with your family.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives to both focus on family/domestic responsibilities and pursue your career or seek success and achievements in some other way. Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve this apparent paradox.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Fourth House when you respond to the pull to seek a deeper, inner security and you search for your soul's True Home.  While remaining faithful to your family and domestic responsibilities, you realize that family life is not the purpose of your being in this existence.  You yearn for a more fulfilling satisfaction than domestic life could ever be capable of providing.  Your deep yearning is the soul's yearning to return to its Home, to its Divine Mother.  You recognize this return as your true destiny and your life's quest.  The success you achieve occurs when you are Welcomed to your Real and Eternal Home.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will likely not want to nurture and comfort your family members or be tied to the constraints of family life and responsibility.  You will consider this to be an inferior role and, instead, you will seek your success in the outer world.  Actually, however, you subconsciously or consciously feel inadequate to give love and caring strokes to others and you are frightened at your responsibility to those closest to you.  You, therefore, may be irresponsible and evasive when it comes to your own family.  You are likely to shirk your domestic responsibilities off on others, claiming that you have more important things to do.  In reality, your self-image cannot bear the subordinate and humble role that domesticity implies.  If the pull of destiny is too strong to resist, however, you may imagine that your role within the family carries great weight and that the burden to "save" the family rests with you as your destiny.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                            Back to Top

South Node in the Tenth        Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towars Your

   House                                    Career and on Achievement

The South Node in the Tenth House indicates that you are predisposed to pursue a career and/or to focus your attention on accomplishing your goals.  You generally have past life associations in these areas that automatically create a level of comfort and competency for you with regard to pursuing your career goals and accomplishments.  The South Node in the Tenth House, therefore, may be a strong indicator of success, particularly success that is built upon natural ability and drive.

You are likely to possess entrenched habits regarding the pursuit of success.  These habits may be positive talents, allowing you to experience a fulfilling and rewarding life. Or, they may be negative behavior patterns, which make the achievement of your goals more difficult.  It is generally difficult for you to overcome or grow out of you predispositions in Tenth House matters.    Talents and resources that you possess are likely to aid you in your career.  It may also be said that you have a talent for achieving success and accomplishing your goals.  Also, you may discover your talents through pursuing your career or by attempting to succeed at some other enterprise.

You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about your career, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your accomplishments.  You may be so comfortable in your career (whether this is a formal job-related career or some other area of focused accomplishment) and you may find further development in this direction to be so pleasurable that it becomes a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, there are likely to be unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex. These issues are likely to be associated with success, achievement, accomplishment and the will of the super-ego.  They will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through disciplined effort, you must purify your attitude and behavior towards achievement.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Tenth House when, even though you may possess a natural drive to succeed in life and a facility for accomplishment, you find that the success that the world offers, the challenges and goals that it holds out as worthy, do not entice you or provide you with fulfillment.  You begin to question your super-ego's standards of success and you find that you have an affinity to pursue a "spiritual career."  You redefine your concept of "success" so that now "success" means becoming a real person, achieving self-actualization and, ultimately, becoming one with the Divine.  You find within yourself a well-spring of discipline and drive to achieve this more worthy goal and you devotes yourself to this task with natural affinity.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, success will become the definition of your worth.  However, if you meet with any resistance or disappointment and especially if you encounter failure early in life, you may become afraid to risk failure by trying to succeed.  You may still be driven, but your bad habits and negative thinking are likely to sabotage your efforts. Thus, failure in career and achievement become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

You may, however, not be willing to accept failure.  If this is the case, your pursuit of success may become singular, with all your resources and talents going into your career or some other objective.  Consciously or subconsciously, you feel that if others do not consider you to be successful, you are nothing as a person.  Psychologically, you live on the edge of failure and you have no self-esteem to support you if you should slip over that edge.

North Node in the Fifth         The Unfolding of Your Destiny is Focused on Self-Expression and House                                 Creativity

The placement of the North Node in the Fifth House indicates that you need to develop a higher level of creativity and to learn to express your personality in order to find your destiny.  Issues of unlocking your creative potential and facing the world as a personality may be difficult for you to face, but they are unlikely to be avoided by you.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to manifesting our creativity or to expressing yourself as a personality.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.             Because you may be deficient in the karmic or sanskaric (past life) development of your creativity and personality, you can be drawn inexorably to find your creative potential and to express your personality or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to remain a seemingly weak personality and/or to exhibit a sterility of life force.  At least initially in your life, you may have a tendency not to engage in creative pursuits or to hold back from expressing your personality, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson. Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of manifesting yourself as a creative being and letting your personality shine.

The unfolding of your destiny or life work may occur in situations involving creative pursuits or in situations in which you are forced to express your personality.  Your destiny may also unfold through your relationship with children (your own or others').  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives.  One is to focus on your own personality development and creative potential.  The other is to curtail your independent self-expressiveness, bowing to the wishes of a group of which you are a member.  You may also be called upon to engage in some endeavor for the sake of the common good, thus, forsaking efforts to apply yourself to your own creative pursuits.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve these apparent paradoxes.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Fifth House when you recognize that the personality is, in reality, just another covering for the soul and, furthermore, that you can create nothing of yourself.  Consequently, you seek that Creative Force and to become an expression of that Creative Energy, your Real Self.  You see yourself acting in such a manner as to become co-creator with the Divine.

However, in order for this not to become just another illusory concept, you must transcend your ego-self, for there cannot be two creators.  You must lose yourself in the Divine.  When there is no difference between your soul and the Divine, because your self no longer exists, then you may participate in the Divine Self-Expression of the Creation.  In this way, you truly actualize your destiny.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you may secretly imagine that you will achieve the greatness that you yearn for through your creative endeavors.  If this does not materialize or if you perceive that such imaginings are vain, you are likely to shrink from engaging in creative pursuits.  You are unwilling to accept your creative responsibilities on anything other than your own terms.  Of course, you may persist in your illusions, resulting in you considering yourself (meaning your personality and its expression) to be "God's gift" or believing that you really will achieve personal greatness and recognition through your creativity.

If you suffer from low self-esteem, you are likely to hide yourself away, not wanting to express yourself for fear of rejection.  You, nevertheless, continue to hunger for a destiny in which you are recognized and appreciated and this dream of yours continually haunts you.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                        Back to Top

South Node in the                  Your Predispositions and Attachments are Towards Group

   Eleventh House                    Identity

The placement of the South Node in the Eleventh House indicates that you are predisposed to identify and interact with a group(s) to which your own identity and goals may be of secondary importance.  The group with which you identify may be as small as a club or as large as all of humanity.  You generally have past life associations with Eleventh House activities that automatically create a level of comfort and competency in this area of life.

The South Node in the Eleventh House may be a strong indicator of involvement and even leadership in group activities.  However, you are likely to possess some entrenched habits in your interaction within groups.  These habits may be positive talents, allowing you to experience a fulfilling and rewarding social life (or a life of social responsibility).  Or, they may be negative behavior patterns, which make successful group involvement more difficult.  These predispositions in Eleventh House matters are generally difficult for you to overcome or grow out of.

Your talents and resources are likely to be useful to you in group situations or may lead you to successfully engage in activities designed to benefit society.  You may discover your talents through your involvement in a group or participating in socially useful enterprises.  You are likely to have a comfort-level, or even a sense of complacency, with groups and social involvement, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with groups/society.  You may also be so comfortable with your identity as a group member or as a participant in some cause.

Sometimes, you may find developing your Eleventh House talents to be so pleasurable that it distracts you from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.  If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with group identity, social responsibility or concern for the future.  They are also likely to involve that function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you are to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable from those that you need to give up.  Then, through by defining and adjusting your individual relationship to society or to a social unit, you must purify your attitude and behavior with respect to group interaction.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Eleventh House when you feel that your identity is not completed by any group, even though your myriad talents allow you to participate in a variety of groups and group activities.  As much as you have an affinity for associating yourself with some higher group, you can find no group that thoroughly meets your needs.  Part of the problem, you realize, is the way you ego-invest in whatever group you belong to.              You may grow to consider yourself to be a citizen of the world, a servant of humanity, belonging to every group and to no [exclusive] group.  What, you ask yourself, is "humanity?"  Ultimately, you identify with the human spirit, with Blake's Albion.  In its essential form, the human spirit is a reflection of the Divine and, so, your innate affinity is not completely realized until you are truly associated with the Community of the Divine Spirit.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, then you will closely identify yourself with some group.  The associations and bond with that group are so strong, that you are almost incapable of asserting an independent identity and expressing your own views.  You feel, consciously or subconsciously, that you have no real self-integrity apart from the group.  Surely, the group provides you with psychological, emotional and even material resources and support with that you are unwilling to do without.  Besides the crippling effect that your allegiance to the group is likely to have on your own personality development, any negative traits inherent in the group are readily transferred to you.  Thus, you may express bigotry, narrow-mindedness and blind acceptance--all inherited from the group.

     -- Gargatholil                                                                                                      Back to Top

North Node in the Sixth         The Unfolding of Your Destiny is Focused on

   House                                     Self-Improvement and Perfection

The North Node in the Sixth House indicates that your life’s destiny is to refine your personality and perfect yourself as a human being.  You are also called upon to become more humble and subordinate, taking on the task of serving others.  These issues, as well as those involving work, subordination and your health, may be difficult for you to face, but unlikely to be avoided.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to becoming a more fit and perfect human being, serving others and accepting subordinate roles.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.

Because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) development of self-improving qualities, you can either be drawn inexorably to seek perfection and/or to devote yourself to the service of others or, feeling yourself at a loss, you may be intimidated by this challenge.  If the latter is the case, you are likely to stagnate in your development of good character traits. You may do little or nothing to improve yourself.  You may also resist or rebel against the subordinate roles that it is your destiny to occupy.

At least initially in your life, you may have a tendency to avoid work and responsibility, ignore health concerns and/or shy away from volunteering or being of service to others, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of improving yourself and engaging in other Sixth House activities.

The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may occur in the work place, through service to others, by experiencing illness or by coming in contact with some self-improvement method.  You may also feel that working for a particular company or with a particular group of people is a matter of destiny.  You may also feel destined to work in the health professions or some service occupation.

You are likely to be confronted with contradictory drives: to focus on your own self-improvement and, at the same time, to give up the self.  You may experience conflicts involving choice between self-sacrifice and preserving yourself so that you can be useful to others.  You may also have to force yourself to take on responsibility and deal with others when all you really want to do is retire into yourself and give up your responsibilities.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve these apparent paradoxes.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Sixth House when you recognize that your destiny is to strive to attain self-perfection.  When you carefully examine the idea of "perfection," however, and you determine that "perfection" does not mean building the perfect body, becoming the most highly educated person, perfecting some skill or even becoming a good person or "developing your potential" when that potential is expressed in terms of actions in the physical world.  Instead, you focus on the perfection of your soul--self-actualization as the Perfect Human.  Rather than approach this goal through some vague "mystical" yearning, you realize that attaining to that level requires hard work and discipline, as well as a constant honing and refining of your attitude and behavior.  You must learn to lose your ego, to truly feel that you are subordinate to every other being.  Only then can you achieve true mystical perfection.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, may imagine yourself attaining perfection one day, but you are unwilling to undertake any discipline or real work in that direction.  Instead, you avoid responsibility and you chafe under any subordinate role that you are allotted by your destiny.  You fear the loss of your ego and the humble position that goes hand in hand with real perfection.  You may make a great show at "self-improvement," but your efforts are really directed at self-aggrandizement.

Alternatively, you may avoid the real issues that the North Node in the Sixth House brings by plunging into overwhelming detail, becoming obsessed with organization or petty perfectionism, and feeling that you have no other choice but to bear this responsibility.  Another path to avoiding your destiny may be through incompetence.  Out of fear or out of belief in your own lack of worth, you cannot do anything right.  You become totally unorganized, sickly and flustered when responsibility is expected of you.  This amounts to you rejecting  your destiny and life lessons.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                    Back to Top

South Node in the Twelfth     Your Predispositions and Attachments are Towards

   House                                     Self-Transcendence and the Unknown

The South Node in the Twelfth House indicates that you are predisposed toward self-transcendence and/or facing the unknown, although this predisposition can manifest in many ways.  Transcending the self presupposes eliminating the ego, either consciously or unconsciously.  If your attraction to self-transcendence is conscious, it is likely to take the form of spiritual seeking and practice.  If your innate affinity to self-transcendence is unconscious, it may be expressed through activities and attitudes leading toward the destruction of the ego-self.  The subconscious urge to transcend the self may also find expression in you finding yourself in circumstances that prod you to turn away from your lower self.  These may include periods of suffering, confinement, loneliness or punishment.

You generally have past life associations in the life area symbolized by the Twelfth House that automatically create a level of comfort and competency with things associated with the Twelfth House--uncertainty, the unknown, self-sacrifice and/or spirituality. However, you are also likely to possess entrenched habits regarding Twelfth House associations.  These habits may be positive talents, allowing you to experience a fulfilling and rewarding spiritual life or a life devoted to relieving suffering.  Or, they may be negative behavior patterns, which create predispositions for substance abuse, self-destructive behavior, self-pity and/or failure.  Predispositions in Twelfth House matters are generally difficult for you to overcome or grow out of.

Those talents and resources that you possess are likely to be useful to you in dealing with uncertainty and the unknown, pursuing a spiritual path and/or bearing (or ameliorating) suffering and hardship.  You may discover your talents through contemplation--often in solitude--during periods of adversity or through engagement in spiritual pursuits.  You may have a comfort-level, or a sense of complacency, about spiritual matters, compassion, suffering or other Twelfth House matters, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be disturbed or dissatisfied with Twelfth House associations.  You may also be so comfortable in your solitude and confinement—however that may be achieved or manifested—and you may find further development in this direction to be so pleasurable that it becomes a distraction from the more important and necessary development of your self-identity.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with lack of compassion, self-destruction, illusions, isolation or fear of the unknown and are particularly likely to be a reflection of karmic consequences.  They will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you are to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that you need to give up.  Then, through a combination of discipline and correct attunement, you must purify your lower tendencies so that you may transcend yourself.

Transcendent Potential

You are well-equipped and innately attuned for a life of spiritual pursuit and self-transcendence.  The compassion that you naturally feel for all humanity makes it unlikely that you will pursue your spiritual welfare in a vacuum.  Instead, it should be balanced by service to others and an attitude of humble submission.  You seem to naturally follow the spiritual path, as if it were a way traveled many times before.  If you are fortunate, the Way will be opened up to you and the Unknown within you will become Known.

Insecurity

Subconsciously, you are acutely aware of what you consciously consider to be "the unknown" and of your duty to enter it and lose you self in It.  If you are inwardly insecure, however, then your ego is resistant to this duty and is attached to self-destructive patterns of behavior that lead you in the opposite direction from true self-transcendence.  You may fear the unknown and fear losing your ego.  You ignore any compassionate tendency in yourself and, instead, practices delusion and fantasy.  If you indulge in drugs or alcohol, this is a clear pathway to your destruction.

North Node in the Seventh    The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Your

   House                                     Relationships

The North Node in the Seventh House indicates that you may need to develop more experience and competency in dealing with others through interpersonal relationships.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.  Relationship and interpersonal issues may be difficult to face, but unlikely to be avoided.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to relationships and their consequences.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.

You may have an overwhelming desire to experience relationship or to learn from/about interpersonal relationships.  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in personal relationships, you may find them difficult to pursue, unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.  If you are a less secure individual, you may choose to avoid this area of life but, if you are like most, you will respond to the challenge that you feel destined to meet.  You  may have a tendency to avoid relationships or an awkwardness with regard to interpersonal skills, at least initially in life, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with the importance of relationships and dealing with others skillfully.

The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may also occur through marriage or other forms of partnership.  You relationships may have a certain fated quality, especially as you perceive them.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for relationship (involving submitting your will to another) and for self-assertion and identity.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve this apparent paradox.

Transcendent Potential

You can actualize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Seventh House when, perhaps through experience and disillusionment, or perhaps through clear insight, you realize that your true destiny is not contained in your attraction to any partner in this world, but to the Divine Beloved. It is with this Beloved that you yearn for a personal relationship.  You search for the means to acquire such a relationship, for one who can make the necessary introduction to the Beloved, for the Beloved is shy and remains behind His/Her veil.  If successful, then you must woe the Beloved, sacrificing your attachment to all else.  By single-pointed gazing in the direction of the Beloved, you establish a relationship with Truth Personified.  In that Relationship, you find all your happiness and, also, happiness in your worldly relationship(s), for you see these and deals with these in their true reality.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, then, knowing subconsciously that to give yourself to another is to sacrifice the ego--at least to some extent—you fear and reject this destiny.  You stagnate in your relationship(s), keeping your attitude one of selfishness so that your relationship(s), if you have pursued any, is only one of form.  If you are unable to keep yourself from your destined relationship(s), you treat your partner(s) as a possession, or a trophy presented to you by your destiny.  In this way, you keep your ego in the foreground.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                     Back to Top

South Node in the First          Your Predispositions and Attachments Focused Are on Your

   House                                     Self-identity

The South Node in the First House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on your self-identity due to the attention that you gave to its development in past lives (or an innate comfort with self-identity).  Having the South Node in the First House tends to produce an aura of self-confidence in you.  You may feel equipped with a satisfying self-identity, one that needs little attention in developing.

Generally, you tend to have fixed attitudes about your identity.  These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to experience a great deal of self-confidence and self-awareness.  Or, they may be negative attitudes which create predispositions for egotism and self-centeredness or, alternatively, insecurity and lack of self-esteem.  It may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions regarding the self.

Your strong sense of self can be drawn upon as a resource in meeting the challenges of life.  You may discover talents and resources that you innately possess by examining, exploring and developing your identity.  You may, in this way, become very self-reliant.  You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about your selfhood and identity, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your self-identity.

However, because you are so comfortable in your identity, you may find further development of this aspect of life to be so pleasurable that it becomes a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.  If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, there are likely to be unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with the ego and/or with self-identity/self-esteem problems.  They will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities which are valuable and those which need to be given up.  Then, through a rebuilding of your identity, you must purify your attitude and state of consciousness concerning the self.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the First House when, having been born with a strong sense of self-identity, you, nevertheless, overcome the idea of the importance of a personal self-identity.  You can do this because your memory of your True Identity is also present and with you.  Relying on your innate perception that your personal identity in this life is not who you really and truly are, you have uncovered within yourself your knowledge of your real identity. The dictate to "Know Thyself" is, for you, a call to remember what you already knows and, thus, to come into your True Heritage.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will be severely attached to your ego and its concept of personal identity.  Unfortunately, this identity is flawed, in that you closely identify with personality characteristics that are dysfunctional and negative.  You do not let go of these negative personality characteristics because you consider these characteristics to be "you" in essence.  If you changed, you would no longer be "who you are."

Another manifestation of the South Node in the First House is that you may subconsciously know your flaws and dread their discovery by others.  You, therefore, may hide your identity or retire into oblivion.  Since others are likely to actually see your flaws and react to them, whether they are openly manifested or suppressed, you often suffer the consequences and may adopt a defensive posture as a result.

North Node in the Eighth      The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Intimacy and

   House                                     Emotional Security

The North Node in the Eighth House indicates that you need to develop more experience and competency with intimacy, learning to share and becoming emotionally more secure and balanced.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.  Intimacy, cooperation with others and other Eighth House issues may be difficult for you to face, but unlikely to be avoided.  These issues may include sexuality, power/control, death or reliance on others.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to Eighth House matters and their consequences.  You are now called upon to do this in the present life.

You may have an overwhelming desire to experience intimacy, to exercise power or to confront other Eighth House associations.  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in such Eighth House matters, you may find them difficult to confront, unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.  If you are insecure, you may choose to avoid this area of life but, if you are like most, you will respond to the challenge which you feel destined to meet.  You may have a tendency to avoid relationships or an awkwardness with regard to sexuality and power, at least initially in life, and you may hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  You may also be reluct to accept help from others or be unwilling to acknowledge death.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with these matters.  The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may also occur through the death of someone close to you, inheritance, the awakening of sexuality and/or power relationships. These matters may have a certain fated quality, especially as you perceive them.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for intimacy (which includes dependency, emotional security and empowerment through relationship) and self-reliance (which includes providing for yourself and reliance on the physical and material for a sense of security).  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve this apparent paradox.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Eighth House when you seek your destiny in the most intimate of places--your own inner self.  There you seek that Power Within, the Source of All.  This, you realize, is your only true security, the only One on which you can rely with absolute certainty.  The quest on which you embark is not without difficulties, for you must become completely purified before you can contact and merge into the Beloved within.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will either avoid your destiny or you will seek it in the wrong direction. Your ego subconsciously knows what its fate will be if you give yourself away in real intimacy.  Death is an ever-present unpleasant reminder of the ego's own impermanence and you try to avoid all thought of it. Power and sexuality, when approached from an egoistic standpoint, can become powerful distractions and substitutions for your pursuit of real destiny and growth.  You may acquire a Don Juan complex as you pursue sexual conquest as your destiny or you may acquire a Napoleon complex if you focus on power as your "destiny."

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                       Back to Top

South Node in the Second     Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towards

House                                     Your Material Resources and Values

The South Node in the Second House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on the accumulation of possessions and ensuring your physical security.  This is due to attention that you paid to their development in your past lives (or to an innate comfort you have with material abundance).  The South Node in the Second House tends to be associated with material abundance, as you often seem innately equipped to acquire wealth and possessions.  It may also indicate an inclination and focus for you to consciously develop a mature value system.

Generally, you tend to have fixed attitudes about values and/or about possessions and your "right" to enjoy wealth and affluence.  These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to have a healthy attitude toward material possessions and a strong set of values.  Or, they may be negative attitudes which either create a fixation on the accumulation of wealth and a warped set of values or, alternatively, a rejection and rebellion against materiality.

It may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions regarding values and possessions.  Your strong sense of values and/or of your ability to provide for yourself can be drawn upon as a resource in meeting the challenges of life.  You may discover talents and resources that you innately possesses by working hard to acquire the necessities and comforts of material life and/or by evaluating your value system.  You may, in this way, become comfortable and secure, both materially and in your sense of direction and value.

You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about values and possessions, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your material position and/or your pre-existing value system.  Because you are so comfortable with your values or material circumstances, you may find further development of this aspect of life to be so pleasurable that it becomes a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you  are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with the values, possessiveness or attachment to material goods.  They will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through a reconstruction of your value system, you must purify your attitude and state of consciousness concerning your material possessions.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Second House when. grounded with an innate sense of what is truly valuable in life, you become less concerned with the accumulation of wealth and the enjoyment of possessions, whether you have these in this life or not.  You know that your real resource is not material, but that Treasure which you possess within yourself.  The question is not, "How much do I have?", but "What is it that is of real value and to what extent do I possess what is Real."  Of course, the very concept of "possession" is foreign to Reality, for who is there to possess anything, but He/She who is the Owner of All.  Through a thorough examination of your value system and a constant examination of your fidelity to the highest of values, you come to realize these things and relinquish your attachment to all that is unreal.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will be focused on what you believe to be your innate right to wealth and possessions and you will, also, define your worth by how much you own.  If you are blessed with material security, you may fear losing it and, thus, becoming a "nobody."  Or, to show others and prove to yourself the "importance" that wealth confers, you may waste and abuse your privilege through your bad habits.  If you are not fated to have wealth and possessions in this life, you will think that you should and you will be envious of others.  You will always be trying to obtain material goods, but your negative attitudes, fears and behavior may make it difficult for you to achieve your desire.  Whether you have material possessions or not, you will remain attached to them and you will be their slave throughout your life.

    -- Gargatholil                                                                                                           Back to Top

North Node in the Ninth        The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Expansion and

 House                                       Understanding

The North Node in the Ninth House indicates that you need to develop more understanding of life and the world and to expand your horizons in order to do this.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.  Understanding may be difficult to acquire and the need to expand your horizons and point of view may be difficult for you to face, but unlikely to be avoided.

The issues faced by you may involve academic learning, the need to enlarge or modify your worldview or the need to develop greater tolerance.  It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to gaining a proper understanding of the world or dealing with matters of larger import than your own personal experience.  You are now called upon to do this in your present life.

You may have an overwhelming desire for higher knowledge, travel, adventure, risk-taking, the exploration of new ways of thinking or arriving at a global point of view from which you can "understand everything."  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in such Ninth House matters, you may find them difficult to accomplish, unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.  If you are insecure, you may choose to avoid this area of life but, if you are like most people, you will respond to the challenge that you feel you are destined to meet.          You may have a tendency to avoid situations that call for you to expand your horizons, at least initially in life, and you may hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  You may be reluct to travel or take risks or you may resist open-mindedness or new paradigms.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with these expansive experiences.

The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may also occur through higher education, travel or adventure.  These experiences may have a certain fated quality, especially as you perceive them.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for expanding your horizons and taking care of everyday life.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve the apparent paradox between the here and now and achieving a global, full understanding of the world.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Ninth House when you are pulled by your destiny to see things clearly from a global perspective.  You then want to know how everything is put together and how everything inter-relates with everything else.  This ultimately leads you to form a grand unified vision of the universe and--perceiving the incompleteness of a system confined to the physical universe--of the entire Cosmic Creation.  To really understand, however, requires direct perception of Reality and to achieve this, you must purify yourself. Ultimately, you become one with that which you understand, for this is the only way in which to gain true understanding.  Thus, the destiny of lifetimes is fulfilled.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, then, recognizing, at least subconsciously, that to expand your horizons risks giving up attachment to the little world of the personal ego, you shy away from your destiny and you remain involved in the limited world of everyday "reality."  If you are unable to resist the pull of your destiny, then you may assimilate this destiny into the narrow world that is ruled by your ego.  Thus, if you become a professor of higher learning, you will focus on "your" achievement and superiority.  Similarly, other Ninth House activities become things that you have learned and accomplished and that are added to that stock of everyday items by which you define yourself.

South Node in the Third        Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Focused on

   House                                     Your Immediate Environment

The South Node in the Third House indicates that you are predisposed to focus your attention on your immediate environment due to the development of this habit in past lives (or to your innate comfort with everyday existence). With the South Node in the Third House, you will  tend to have an affinity for sensory experience and an aptitude for learning from what is around you.  This placement may also indicate that you have an inclination to enjoy a "normal life," content with ordinary things and everyday undertakings.

Generally, you tend to have fixed attitudes about your surroundings and/or set ways of learning or relating to your environment.  These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to learn quickly, be content with your surroundings, notice things and communicate easily.  Or, they may be negative attitudes which limit you through your attachment to things-the-way-they-are or to the everyday world with which you are familiar.  Alternatively, you may possess ingrained attitudes that make it difficult for you to function in everyday life or to relate to your immediate surroundings.  It may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions and conditioned reactions regarding your immediate environment.

You can generally draw upon your quick grasp of facts and your ability to respond to situations within your environment as a resource for meeting the challenges of life. You may discover talents and resources that you innately possess by paying attention to what is around you and drawing upon what you have learned as a child/youth.  Brothers and sisters or childhood friends may also be resources for you.

By being alert and paying attention, you may become comfortable and secure in your everyday life and with your surrounding environment.  You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about living an ordinary life in your current circumstances, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your present situation and/or your immediate environment.  Because you are so comfortable with your everyday life and surroundings, you may find this aspect of life to be so pleasurable that it becomes a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with the paying attention to the here and now, siblings and friends, or with living an ordinary life and will also involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through a reorientation to the "here and now", you must purify your attitude and state of consciousness toward your immediate environment.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Third House when you rise above ordinary contentment with everyday life. You learn, or you may be innately equipped with, the art of living completely in the Here and Now.  Your attention captures each detail, but you are not distracted by detail.  Being unattached to any particular thing, you see all things as-they-really-are.  You recognize this quality as a Divine gift with which you have been blessed.  Your understanding of Reality has led to your enjoying a state of supreme contentment.  You know that wherever you are, and under whatever circumstances, you are Here and Now, and that is the best of all possible places and states.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will be afraid to confront the reality around you lest your ego and its illusions are exposed.  You therefore comfort yourself by remaining within the dream of your everyday life.  Here, you do not have to confront anything that would prompt you to grow.  If you do become dissatisfied with your life and present surroundings, it is only to chase a will-o-wisp through which your own ego is magnified—at least in your own mind.  You may also complain about your surroundings and the boredom you suffer, but you are never willing to do anything about this.  Generally, however, you remain stuck in your routine, not infrequently attached to bad habits and attitudes that cause friction with those around you.

North Node in the Tenth       The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Your Success

   House                                     and on Accomplishments

The North Node in the Tenth House indicates that you need to develop a more goal-focused attitude that will enable you to achieve success in your life.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.  It may be difficult for you to achieve success and you may find it difficult to accept the need to stay disciplined and focused, but it is unlikely that you will be able to avoid those circumstances that push you to succeed and to accomplish much in life.  The issues faced by you may involve career, goal-setting or attitudes toward achievement and success.

It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to setting goals, achieving objectives or making worthwhile contributions to society. You are now called upon to do this in the present life.  You may have an overwhelming desire for accomplishment, success and career achievement.  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in such Tenth House matters, you may find your goals difficult to accomplish and the pursuit of success--in or out of a career--to be unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.

If you are in secure, you may choose to avoid this area of life but, if you are like most people, you will respond to the challenge that you feel destined to meet.  You may have a tendency to avoid responsibility and challenges or to put off choosing a career or setting goals, at least initially in life, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with your drive for accomplishment and the need to engage in and become successful in life.

The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may occur within the context of your career or the pursuit of some other goal.  Your career, in particular, may have a certain fated quality, especially as you perceive it.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for pursuing success and career, on the one hand, and enjoying family and home life, on the other.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve the apparent paradox between personal and public success.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Tenth House when you redefine your concept of success.  To do this, you must break away from the idea of success that has been conditioned in you by your super-ego.  You must realize that career attainment or any worldly measure of success is impermanent and illusory.  What, you must ask yourself, is the purpose of life?  It is to attain that purpose that marks real success.  Thus, you will engage on a spiritual quest and work with discipline and focus in order to achieve your spiritual goal.  You willl do this without abandoning your worldly duties, which you have recognized as foundational to being able to pursue the spiritual work.  You will, also, successfully deal with the paradox that you must put in effort to attain your goal, but it is not "you" that is capable of attaining anything.  In this way, you achieve everything.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will fear failure and this fear of failure is likely to hold you back from pursuing success. Sometimes, you see all of the toil and sacrifice that you must make in order to attain success and you are unwilling to devote such efforts to the task.  If you were confident in yourself, however, you would not take this attitude.  Sometimes, you cannot avoid the pull of destiny, but to protect your ego from failure, you manufacture a grand "destiny" that you are to achieve.  If you do not achieve this destiny, you believe that it is due to the opposition of others and not to your own lack of striving or to your own failings.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                   Back to Top

South Node in the Fourth      Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towards

   House                                     Rootedness

The South Node in the Fourth House indicates that you are predisposed to focus your attention on family, home and other matters connected with your roots. The South Node in the Fourth House tends to be associated with an affinity for domestic life and an aptitude for providing nurturing and/or bringing your family together.  It may also indicate that you have an affinity for things in the past, particularly your own heritage.

Generally, you tend to have fixed attitudes about family matters, domestic life and/or heritage and tradition.  These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to nurture others, create family harmony, retain a strong foundation and/or enjoy domestic life.  Or, they may be negative attitudes that lead to problems in the family, conflict over domestic duties or bigotry and small-mindedness with respect to your heritage.  You may possess ingrained attitudes that make it difficult for you to function in a domestic role or to relate to your family or cultural heritage. It may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions and conditioned reactions regarding family, heritage and domestic life.

You can usually draw upon your aptitude for domesticity, caring nature or affinity to your heritage as a resource for meeting the challenges of life. Your own family and the lessons learned during your upbringing can also often serve as resources and support for you.  You may discover talents and resources that you innately possess when you begin a family or otherwise take on domestic or nurturing responsibilities.  Discovering your heritage is, also, often a way to discover your talents and capabilities.

Family life, as well as the sense of being needed by other family members, is likely to provide you with a sense of comfort and security.  You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about domestic life, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your family life or domestic circumstances.  Generally, because you are so comfortable with your family and domestic life, you find this aspect of life to be so pleasurable that it can become a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.

If the South Node is conjunct another planet in the chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated family, being tied down by domestic or care-giving responsibilities or being bound by heritage and tradition.  These issues will also generally involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through a reevaluation of your foundations and commitments, you must purify your attitude and state of consciousness toward your family, heritage and/or domestic matters.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Fourth House when you return to fundamental principals to find your center and experience true comfort and well-being.  While observing your domestic and family duties, you must realize that the group of relations that you were born into is not your true heritage.  You have a yearning pull and an innate attraction toward your inner roots.  Delving into yourself, in the protection of your own psychic privacy, you discover your true heritage. The spiritual roots from which you have sprung now nourish your soul.  You discover within yourself a treasure from which you can continually draw. In spiritual association, you discover your true family.  In calmly and routinely pursuing your spiritual devotions, you practice your real domestic duties.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will see your family and heritage as your primary resource and source of support and comfort.  Without them, you would be lost.  You have no real sense of self outside of the context of your family.  You are so attached to them, you cannot let go.  This creates difficulties and conflicts.  You may try to nurture and cooperate with your family members but your own needs and fixed concepts about family and domestic life are so prepossessing that you cannot act in this environment without expressing or causing negativity.  You are unwilling to give up your bad habits or those traditional views that are no longer positive and relevant.  They are part of your attachment, to which you ever cling.

North Node in the                  The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Group Identity

   Eleventh House

The North Node in the Eleventh Housee indicates that it may be your destiny to develop your sense of group identity, particularly in terms of developing social responsibility.  You must become better integrated into the larger social unit and establish your individual identity within the group in a healthy and balanced manner.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.

It may be difficult for you to gain affinity with a group or come to terms with the need for social responsibility, but it is unlikely that you can avoid these issues.  The challenges facing you may involve finding your place within a group, coming to terms with your role in society, being concerned for the future or developing a concern for the well-being of humanity. It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to being involved in group settings and/or to your responsibilities to society and humanity. You are now called upon to undertake these obligations in your present life.

You may have an overwhelming desire to be a part of some group or to participate in some cause devoted to social uplift.  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in such Eleventh House matters, you may find group interaction or social participation to be difficult, unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.  If you are insecure, you may choose to avoid this area of life.  However, it is more likely that you will respond to this challenge, which you feel destined to meet.

At least initially in life, you may have a tendency to avoid groups and/or matters of social responsibility, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with your need for group and social involvement.  The unfolding of your destiny is most likely to occur within the context of group life or social involvement.  Joining a particular group, organization or cause may seem to have a certain fated quality.

You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for commitment to a group or society, on the one hand, and developing your own individual identity, on the other hand.  Part of your destiny lesson, then, may be to resolve the apparent paradoxes between group-identity and self-identity.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Eleventh House when you  begin to be motivated by a desire to improve the condition of humanity.  You then work diligently to bring about these results.  You progress beyond identification with any single group or organization and you consider yourself to be a citizen of the world, a member of the class "Humanity."

Nevertheless, if you are honest with yourself, you may find yourself realizing that you are inadequate to the task improving general human welfare.  At most, you can make an incremental difference, and you are not without faults and short-comings.  You conclude that, in order to assist humanity, you must first tend to your own improvement.  Then, you can be an example to others.

Consequently, you learn to serve others and work for the betterment of humanity with humility and without any involvement of your ego.  While attending to the physical, social and economic needs of those less fortunate, you realize that the greatest betterment is the betterment of humanity's spiritual welfare.  Again, you conclude that the most effective way to accomplish this is by example.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will be afraid to give up your own identity.  Thus, you avoid group involvement, because this requires individual commitment and carries a risk that you may be criticized by the group.  You may also be expected by the group to sacrifice your selfish interests.

If you cannot resist the pull of destiny, you will recast your involvement in a group so as to preserve your ego's supremacy.  You may seek a leadership position in the group or otherwise so strongly identify with the group that the group becomes an alter-ego for you. You, then, are free to imagine that you are part of--essential to--a grand destiny to actualized yourself through the group.

South Node in the Fifth          Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towards

   House                                      Creativity and Self-Expression

The South Node in the Fifth House indicates that you are predisposed to focus your attention on matters of creativity and self-expression.  The South Node in the Fifth House also suggests that you have an affinity for children, extrovertedness and developing your persona. Generally, you tend to have fixed attitudes about the creative process, children or the extent to which one should express oneself.  These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to engage in creative and artistic endeavors, enjoy a playful attitude toward life and/or recreate yourself on an on-going basis.

Or, they may be negative attitudes which lead to problems with children, extravagant or ostentatious display, obnoxious personality characteristics or lack of good taste.  You may possess ingrained attitudes that make it difficult for you to express yourself, be successfully creative or deal with children.  Predispositions and conditioned reactions regarding self-expression, creativity or children are difficult for you to overcome or grow out of.  However, your aptitude for creativity, enjoyment of life or expressing yourself successfully can be drawn upon as a resource in meeting the challenges of life.

Your children may also serve as a resource and support for you.  You may discover talents and resources that you innately possesses through engaging in creative activities or through your dealings with children (your own or others').  Hobbies, recreation, creative endeavors and/or children are likely to provide you with a sense of comfort and security.

You are likely to have a comfort-level, or a sense of complacency, about your persona, creativity and/or self-expression in general, although its square to Jupiter may cause you to be dissatisfied with Fifth House matters if you become too obsessed with them.  Generally, because you are so comfortable with your persona, your children and your creative life, and you find these things to be so pleasurable, they may become a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.  If the South Node is conjunct another planet, this may indicate that there are unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated with the function symbolized by the other planet and how these interact with your creativity, self-expression, playfulness, risk-taking or children.  These issues will also generally involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you are to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities which are valuable and those which need to be given up.  Then, through a reevaluation of these Fifth House matters, you must purify your attitude and state of consciousness toward how you express yourself creatively in the world.

Transcendent Potential

You can actualize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Fifth House when you realize that you are blessed with an innate creative ability.  You find no difficulty in expressing yourself.  Yet, you begin to feel that it is not you that is the ultimate source of this creative energy.  The Creative Force may be so strong within you that it is impossible for you to deny It's autonomy.  It is this Life Force that you now seek to know and to become one with.  You see that this Force is right within you, that you and everything else that exists is an expression of It.  This Power of Life, which you have always possessed, is your True Heritage.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will have deep-seated fears, born of past experience, concerning rejection.  Therefore, you will be reluctant to express yourself or show your natural creativity.  If you cannot avoid the pull to follow your innate drives, you are likely to be defensive about what you have created and/or about your persona.  You are also likely to cling stubbornly to your own notions and to adopt a conceited attitude toward your abilities to express yourself and create.  This you do as a matter of ego-protection.

North Node in the Twelfth     The Unfolding of Your Destiny Is Focused on Selflessness

   House

The North Node in the Twelfth House indicates that you need to develop more experience and competency in the area of self-surrender.  Your life lessons involve humility and the realization that the ego is really just a very small thing in the Universe.  To this end, your destiny has been framed to present appropriate learning opportunities.  It may be difficult for you to come to terms with your true position in life.  It may also be difficult for you to face solitude, the unknown and suffering--all associated with the Twelfth House—but it is unlikely that these issues can be avoided.

It is likely that, in the past (including your past life development), you have not paid sufficient attention to the need for humility.  You are now called upon to learn to be humble.  You may have an overwhelming desire to sacrifice yourself or to engage in some spiritual or religious quest.  However, because you may be deficient in karmic or sanskaric (past life) experiences in such Twelfth House matters, you may find submission and service to be difficult, unfamiliar and fraught with pitfalls.

If you are in secure, you may choose to avoid this area of life but, if you are like most people, you will respond to the challenge that you feel destined to meet.  You may have a tendency to avoid the unknown and turn away from Twelfth House matters, at least initially in life, as you hesitate to confront your destiny lesson.  Ultimately, if you are to be successful in actualizing your life's potential, you must come to terms with your destiny.

Because the Twelfth House is the house of karma (hidden things or things derived from unknown past lives), you may have a strong sense of coincidence, synchronicity or predestination as you go through your life.  If you are not consciously responsive to the call of destiny which the North Node represents, you may find yourself being forced to absorb the lessons of the Twelfth House through unexplained events that expose you with humbling situations or that confront you with the fallacy of your ego.

The unfolding of your destiny or life lessons may occur within the context of a spiritual search, through some institution or through suffering and loneliness.  You are also likely to be confronted with contradictory drives for a retreat from the world and service to others (and, thus, engagement in society).  Part of your destiny lesson, then, is to resolve this apparent paradox between the transcendence of the self and your practical utility in the world.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the North Node in the Twelfth House once you discover that it is your destiny to transcend the self and merge with the Higher Self, thus losing your individuality.  You then die to your ego and you enter into the "unknown," which is really the realm of Spirit where things are really Known.  Your path toward transcendence may not be an easy one, for this is "new ground" and obstacles are sure to be met.  By cutting the roots of attachment, "isolating" yourself from all distractions, suffering whatever privation is required and submitting yourself completely to a Higher Power, you overcome and transcend.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, then, knowing that fulfilling your destiny means the death of your ego, or at least it being humbled, you consciously or subconsciously avoid any participation in spirituality.  You keep to what is routine and familiar.  You fear the unknown and you are adverse to those signs of the world's impermanence--sickness, old age and death--that call you towards your destiny.

If you cannot avoid a destiny which brings you in contact with Twelfth House institutions, including religious institutions, you protect your ego by either making this a thoroughly ordinary part of your life or allowing your ego to fantasize about pursuing a "grand destiny" through such an institution.  This may include you pursuing martyrdom.  In extreme cases, your subconscious may pull you into self-destructive behavior patterns in order to bring you to face your destiny.  Thus, alcoholism and other addictive behaviors, chronic ill health and/or prison may be your fate.

      -- Gargatholil                                                                                       Back to Top

South Node in the Sixth         Your Predispositions and Attachments Are Towards

   House                                     Self-Improvement and Self-Refinement

The South Node in the Sixth House indicates that you are predisposed to focus on areas of life that involve personal improvement.  Generally, you are likely to have fixed behavior patterns and habits dealing with matters of health, work, service to others, self-refinement and humility. These attitudes may be positive, allowing you to develop good work or health habits or devote yourself to the service of others. Or, they may be negative attitudes which lead to problems in the workplace--particularly difficulties with superiors--health problems, extreme perfectionism or avoidance of responsibility.  You may possess ingrained attitudes that make it difficult for you to engage in routine activities or to accept a subordinate role.  It may be difficult for you to overcome or grow out of your predispositions in these areas.

You may possess certain talents or competencies in Sixth House matters that you have developed in your past lives (or that are innately present in you).  You may discover talents and resources that you innately possess through work, service or self-improvement activities.  You are likely to have a comfort-level or sense of complacency about Sixth House matters, although a challenging aspect to the Nodes may cause you to be dissatisfied with your condition.  Because you are so comfortable in your work environment, supportive role, health status or self-improvement program, you may find further development in this direction to be so pleasurable or consuming that it becomes a distraction from more important and necessary personality-development tasks.

Since many of your habits and proclivities regarding Sixth House matters have been developed over past lifetimes and you may not have been as psychologically/ spiritually mature as you are now, you may have deep-seated negative complexes and behaviors embedded in your approach to work, humility, health or self-refinement.  If the South Node is conjunct another planet in your chart, you are likely to have unresolved issues from past lives that entangle you, hold you back or draw you into a negative complex.  These issues are likely to be associated work, health, self-esteem, or your attitude toward routine.  These issues will also generally involve the function symbolized by the conjunct planet.  The challenge for you is to sort out those predispositions and innate qualities that are valuable and those that need to be given up.  Then, through self-refinement, you must purify your attitude and behavior towards work, service and health.

Transcendent Potential

You can realize the transcendent potential of the South Node in the Sixth House by pursuing your innate attraction to self-improvement and perfection.  You seem to have an ideal of the perfect character engrained in your psyche and a natural inclination to try to realize this ideal.  As you examine yourself critically and discover your faults, you may find it relatively easy to eliminate or rise above them, once you apply yourself, for you automatically seem to know their remedy.  Your progress toward self-perfection is marked by increasing humility, for this path leads toward your destiny of self-transcendence, which is also your heritage.

Insecurity

If you are inwardly insecure, you will have no inclination to expend any effort toward self-improvement.  You will be content to remain stuck in the routine to which you have been conditioned.  This is far from real contentment, however, because you complain about your condition unceasingly.  You are also critical of others and this critical attitude is borne of envy and resentment.  You inwardly know that you must apply yourself to your responsibilities, do your best and be useful to others.  However, you lack an adequate sense of self-worth and, therefore, you feel useless.  Your irresponsibility and/or failure to rise above the minimum that is expected of you are really a devise to protect your ego from failure and from you realizing your short-comings and imperfections.
